Christ's Abundant Life Ministries was founded in December, 1987 by Pastor Leroy Rankin toward the end of his serving five and one-half years as Pastor of Second St. John Full Gospel Church in Smyrna, Georgia and twenty years as an educator at Clark Atlanta University. He was led of the Lord to establish a Ministry that would facilitate broader outreach to win souls to Jesus Christ and provide innovative, God-directed Ministries that would not be encumbered by religious tradition and would cause more believers to experience the Abundant Life provided by Christ. - Thus the vision of Christ's Abundant Life Ministries. In l988, Pastor Rankin resigned as Pastor of Second St. John to devote full attention to implementing the new Ministry vision. With an established Board of Directors of four persons and a group of 8 persons, the Ministry began in the home of his Treasurer, Harold Olesby in Atlanta, Georgia. The initial phase of work was to build an effective ministering team to include: (1) Auxiliary heads, (2) Christian Counselors and (3) a support staff. Weekly services were conducted (Sundays and Friday evenings ) for this purpose. The congregation began implementing a unique outreach concept called, "Outreach Fellowships" embodying Praise, Ministry of the Word, food and fellowship. The Lord began blessing the work and many were drawn to the Ministry, particularly because of the unique teaching of God's Divine Health by Pastor Rankin.
