Josprel's Articles

  • Did Hitler have a Need to worship? - by Josprel
Some time back, this author in e-mail correspondence with a reader made the claim that humanity has an inherent need to worship. In response I received an answer skeptically asking, “Did Hitler have a need to worship?”

My answer to that challenging question appears below.
  • Why Naaman was Healed - by Josprel
It was through a little girl's trust in God and her compassion for the one who enslaved her that the commanding general of Syria's army was brought in contact with God's healing power. Refusing to succumb to her bitter plight, she became the initiator of his healing from leprosy.
  • The Archer of Paran: Parts Two, Three and the Conclusion
Isaac’s sons, Jacob and Esau, were twins, but a person wouldn’t suspect it by looking at them. From puberty, Esau was hairy and rugged. Tribal history chroniclers alleged that his name derived from the word “Seir,” meaning “hairy.” Unlike Esau, Jacob was a homebody who enjoyed the activities of domestic life. The fact that Isaac favored Esau, while his wife, Rebecca, favored Jacob created an explosive relationship.
  • THE ARCHER OF PARAN: PART ONE
"I am Isaac, your brother,” the visitor stated. Ishmael stiffened, his eyes blinking with incredulity. Brow lowered in suspicion, he responded, “You say you are my brother, Isaac, but to me you are a stranger. Why have you come into my land?”

“I have come to say that Abraham, our father has been gathered to his people. I now ask you to go with me to Mamre, that together we may bury him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron.”

Ishmael eyes lowered eyes and he wept.
  • Do Business Till My Return
According to at least one of the parables of the Lord Jesus Christ, God, the Father apparently functions as a stern master who expects a generous return on His investments.
  • The Lamenter: An excerpt from Josprel's novel "Kanfal."
Five years had passed since the first class of Lucifin’s demon possessed Subverters penetrated Odoma. Since then, others had joined them. The apostate Emperor Kan's communities now dotted the frontier border that separated his Logos-hating empire of Kanland from Odoma, the land ruled by his the First Couple, his parents Odom and Gwen.
  • The Courage to be Faithful (An excerpt from Josprel's upcoming novel, "Beloved Apostate.")
Robert L. Xavier, the son of Carlos Xavier, the wrongfully ousted presiding bishop of the Latin Diocese of the now apostate Alliance of Christian Churches, was in a quandary. After his elevation to his father’s former post he acted to solidify his position. His first official act was to convene a meeting of the 648 churches and 783 ministers he supposed were now under his jurisdiction. Only the churches and ministers who were part of the apostate Fresh Wine Movement responded. The hemorrhage had began and, when it quenched, the Latin Diocese of Alliance of Christian Churches lost 592 congregations, totaling some 325,000 members and 679 ministers, all opposed to the apostasy of the Fresh Wine Movement.
  • Old Landmarks
The Biblical definition of "landmark" is that which we generally understand by the word. It is a boundary marker. The Old Testament prohibited the removal of a neighbor's landmark; A curse was pronounced on those who dared do so. Landmarks are important because they define boundaries, but they do more than that. In a free definition of the word we also use landmarks to define locations. As we travel we often use landmarks as points of reference to prevent loosing our way.
  • Bread Upon The Waters
A barroom brawl was instrumental to our introduction. He was twenty-six years old. As an infant, he lost his soldier father on a battlefield. Everyone who knew his Oriental mother, praised her as a wonderful Christian. She had done her best to instill this quality in her son. In most respects, she succeeded. Sadly, in his early teens, she died, too. Then, he had no one but himself.
  • Yesteryear's Great Soul-Winners Write on the Baptism with the Holy Spirit
Pentecostals/Charismatics are not alone in their belief that the Baptism with the Holy Spirit is subsequent to salvation; nor are they the first to hold this view. Many of the great non-Pentecostal evangelists and teachers of yesteryear -- spiritual giants whose names are linked with soul winning -- held to this view of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit long before there was a Pentecostal or a Charismatic movement.
  • Captain Rainbrain and the Tanglevine: The Finale!
Doomsday dawns. Those who disbelieve gather near the ship for some entertainment. Seemingly of their own volition, the animals leave forest and farms to embark The Tanglevine. Then liquid judgment descends.
  • Captain Rainbrain and the Tanglevine: Part Six
With banners flying, and great pomp, Prince Ludni and his companions moved forward to destroy Noiman's vessel. Prince Uri and his malitia traveled with them, and he was commanded by Ludani to fulfill the commission to destroy the ship. Then an event occured that made it impossible to obey the command.
  • Captain Rainbrain and the Tanglevine: Part Five
Riding to Noiman's construction site, Prince Ludani and Prince Uris led a large caravan of pleasure seekers who looked forward to a spectacle of unusual entertainment. Though Noiman warned that they leave without attempting to destroy ship he was building, Prince Ludani and Uris ignored the warning.
  • Captain Rainbrain and the Tanglevine: Part Four
Until Noiman’s father, Japhtho, and his grandfather, Methusha, fell out of favor with the throne, Uris, the administrator Larsia, had been a close friend of both. On several occasions, the administrator witnessed the supernatural powers with which The Three had anointed Methusha. Believing Noiman possessed similar powers made him disinclined to oppose him; the risk of confronting the boat builder tremendously intimidated him. For several days after returning home, he delayed acting on his..
  • Captain Rainbrain and the Tanglevine: Part Three
Emperor BenKan called a conclave of his regional administrators. Enthroned before them, he demanded a remedy for his problems with Noiman. Uris, the administer from the region of Larsia, received the emperor’s commission to solve the problem.
  • Captain Rainbrain and the Tanglevine: Part Two
Emperor BenKan's temple priestesses conjured up the appearance of BuJiard, who claimed to dwell among the stars. After BuJiard appeared, BenKan requested his assistance in his struggle against Noiman. Informed by BenKan of the emblem worn by a horseman who rode into Larsia mounted on a white stallion, BuJiard fled in fear.
  • Captain Rainbrain and the Tanglevine: Part One
Without warning, an earsplitting screech reverberated from several priestesses, who had ceased their twirling and now pointed to Dagon. Above the sacrificial alter; in front of the gaping jaws of the idol, a barely perceptible, shimmering figure appeared. Each of the priestesses stretched out bodily on the temple floor, seemingly waiting.
  • A MAN OF FAITH
Geroge Mueller began a ministry to the orphans of England, never asking help from anyone, never hinting that help was ever needed. In answer to his believing prayers alone, $7,500,000 was sent to him for building “God’s Orphanage,” for missionary enterprises and for the circulation of Scriptures. (It should be noted that these amounts were in the monetary values of the 1800s – the equivalents of which would be millions more in our generation).
  • WHAT HAPPENED TO HOLINESS? - (Personification With a Purpose)
Something has happened to Holiness; she's gone! Search for her! She must groom the Bride for the Bridegroom's coming!
  • The Home of Forgotten Kings
David had fled Jerusalem to avoid being assassinated by his son, Absolom, who coveted the throne. Crossing the Jordan River, he waited there until a report came of Absolom's defeat. He then dispatched a message to some of his subjects who had remained unharmed in Jerusalem. The message was directed to the leaders of the tribe of Judah, David's own tribe - his own relatives, which in effect asked, "Why haven't you expressed a desire for my return? Why haven't you brought me back as your king.
  • Memorial Gilgal Stones
After the death of Moses, the leadership of Israel fell to his protégé, Joshua. It now was time to cross over into Canaan; time to claim the land God already had given to His people; time to trust Him to remove all obstacles to complete victory and, of course, the first obstacle were the waters of the Jordan River that, normally so placid, now were at flood stage.
  • The Pastor of the No-Fault Church
Polycarp, a pupil of the Apostle John, was the pastor of the Smyrna church at the writing of the Book of Revelation. He personified the uncompromising steadfastness of the church at Smyra. He encouraged this stance in his congregation.
  • The Mind is the Matter
In his frenzy to defeat God’s purposes and to establish his own hellish empire, Satan is following the propaganda ploy utilized by earthly dictators, but on a substantially enlarged scale. Offering in the comfortable environment of the home, the enticing delights of the flesh, spiced with anti-God and anti-Biblical propaganda, he is efficiently introducing his own subtle doctrines. Which Bible-believer can honestly claim that, much of what is dispensed by television executives, movie moguls, the paper media, some websites, and other methods of communication – should not be labeled “doctrines of devils?”
  • The Lord's Table-Talk
There is an immense gulf between love that emanates from a momentary emotion and love that is demonstrated as an act of our free will, especially when we know that giving that love will cost us something. Most often there is no emotion involved with the latter kind of love. It is a disinterested love, freely given, sometimes at great cost to the giver. Such disinterested love for our fellow believers, flowing forth without reservation, marks those who are genuine followers of Christ.
  • TESTED BY BLESSINGS
As believers, we recognize that "fiery trials" often test us. Yet how many consider that we sometimes are tested by blessings - a subtle form of testing? We've all heard accounts of believers whose loyalty to Christ could not be shaken during a fiery trial of poverty, but who drifted from Him after receiving a blessing of wealth.
  • Quiet Moments with God
The tension factor is the accepted norm today. Not immune to the standard, Christians also feel the resulting pressures. Therefore, in addition to personal prayer, we habitually should replenish ourselves, at convenient intervals, by quiet moments with God. Such unregimented getaways may be enjoyed anywhere we make time for them.
  • The Second Coming of Christ: A Bible Study by Josprel
"The Second Coming of Christ" is a Bible study by Josprel in outline format.
  • Horses in Heaven
THERE ARE HORSES IN HEAVEN! What a childlike statement. In our quest for profundity, we tend to relegate such simple themes to the realm of allegory. We feel foolish conferring on them a serious voice. But, with infinite unpretentiousness, God anoints simplicity to seed His Word in receptive hearts.
  • Maximum Security: Attica!
When Josprel first began his many years of ministry in the town of Attica, New York, the location of one of the most horrific prison rebellions in America's history, he possessed an extremely negative mindset regarding prison ministry. It required a work of God in his heart to change that mindset.
  • Who's Praying for the Arabs?
In our zeal to experience the fulfillment of Bible prophecy in the Middle East, those Arabs who are been born again, have become the forgotten sector of the body of Christ. Is anyone praying for the Arabs?
  • Five Smooth Stones
No one better human hero exemplifies a true shepherd then King David, who has been called, "The Shepherd King of Israel." The account of David, the Shephard-King of Israel, teaches three important lessons:.
  • Peace
There has never been an instance when battles were not raging somewhere on our globe. According to Jesus, there shall be wars and rumors of wars before His return. Until then, though humanity's universal cry is for peace, there shall be no peace.
  • Genetically Based Sin
Some time ago, I read with interest the comments someone sent to a large urban newspaper. They had to do with the writer's concern on the implications of genetic research on the prevailing ideas regarding sin and man's free will. Is humanity really responsible for some acts condemned by the Western religions?
  • The Agnostic Violinist
Though he never used the term, Paul, a violinist, was an agnostic. He claimed no one could know a God existed. He even attempted unsuccessfully to prevent his wife, Sara, from attending her church. Then Tony, his closest friend, was converted and Paul's views on God and religion changed,
  • The Bandito and the Jungle Angels
God sent His angels to protect the missionaries from bandits, who planned to kill them as they traveled through a South American jungle.
  • Can these Bones Live?
A study of prophecy relating to Israel, the Gentile nations, and the Biblical relationship these nations have to near-future events.
  • Things that Cannot be Shaken
God takes a nation’s mocking of Him and what belongs to Him seriously. Belshazzar, the king of Babylon during the captivity of Daniel, learned this truth first hand.
  • A Superlative Forgiveness
It’s been observed that forgiveness without forgetting is like vultures feeding on a dead carcass. It contaminates our prayers. If we want God to answer our prayers, we must forgive. Jesus coupled God’s forgiveness to our forgiveness of others.
  • The Discipline of the Cross
As resurrected, cross-disciplined disciples, we view Calvary and the empty tomb as our demarcation point. It was at Calvary that God destroyed our old sin nature. And, in the tomb, through the resurrection power of Christ, we experienced a rebirth.
