The Shame Of What People Know About The Bible

By: Hanna Henderson

A well known talk show host once conducted a show for which he invited members of the Aryan Youth Group/Movement as guests to discuss their purpose for formation. During the course of the heated discussion, the movement's representatives repeatedly declared their hatred against certain groups of people among which figured the Jews.

Someone in the audience attempted to silence the group's members by reminding them that Jesus was a Jew. That person received overwhelming support from the audience who applauded and cheered. They hoped, in good intention, to bring the word of God into the argument to enlighten. However, the person's efforts failed miserably. The Aryan Youth Movement made known that they believe that the "real" Jews, God's people, are actually Aryans. One of the members shouted in authority to the audience, a fist in the air, that, "nowhere in the Bible does it say that Jesus was a Jew." Sadly, there wasn't a single soul in the audience that knew the Bible well enough to know whether such a statement was true or false.

The United States of America has a constitution based on many truths taken directly from the Holy Bible. Bibles are freely sold in bookstores, available in libraries, accessible on the Internet, and given away free of charge by churches and ministries. Nevertheless, an American audience that desired to stand on the Good Book's teachings, were quickly and easily put to shame on national television.

The scripture below is just one of many that plainly tell the reader that Jesus was a Jew. It's not difficult to understand. It's not prophetic. It doesn't speak in symbols. It's not shrouded in mystery. It's plain English. The only problem is that it has never been read. It says, "there cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus saith unto her, 'give me to drink.' Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, 'how is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me which am a woman of Samaria?' For the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans" (KJV, St. John 4:7-9).

In many nations of the world, people literally risk their lives to obtain and read a Bible. This takes place while Bibles in the United States collect dust as America seeks out everything but the treasure that's in her own "back yard".

The audience of the talk show is an example of the shame of what people tend to know about the Bible--practically nothing.
