The Nature of God’s Kingdom

By: Pastor Leroy Rankin

The Kingdom of God is a Spiritual (unseen) place, a place of His Supernatural Power. (I Corinthians 4:20) An excellent illustration of it and its power is Electricity – natural power that we use on a continuous basis. Power Source: The primary source of the electrical power that we use is a “Power Plant.” Power companies generate and provide electricity to us continually from their plants. Power Flow: The power “flows” from the plants through electrical wires along our streets directly to our homes. Our homes are equipped with circuit breakers and outlets, which enable us to receive and cut off the power. Through the outlets, we draw the power to things designed to receive it - lights, computers for work and information, and a variety of electrical fixtures that benefit us.

Like electricity, God’s Supernatural power comes to us from a specific “Power Source” - His Kingdom. The location of that Kingdom is inside the Holy Ghost. (Romans 14:17)

Who is the Holy Ghost? The Holy Ghost, also called the Holy Spirit, is the third person of the Godhead. (I John 5:7) God the Father sent Him to earth to dwell inside our hearts. When we receive Him into our hearts, we receive Kingdom power, because the power is located inside of Him. Acts 1:8 declares, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

HOW WE RECEIVE KINGDOM POWER
God created us all as triune beings containing three interlocking components:

1. A Spirit - the area of our being that contains all knowledge. Here is where we
exercise free will and where we receive God’s Knowledge. (I Corinthians 2:11);
2. A Soul - the area of our being that contains our emotions or feelings. We feel
anger, jealousy, hatred, etc. based upon the knowledge we acquire.
3. A Body - the house in which we operate in the physical world. Our behavior is life, from profession to social, is based upon our knowledge. (I Thessalonians 5:23)

The Holy Ghost comes to dwell inside our hearts where our spirit exists. First, we are “Born Again” by Him. This work causes our spirit to be regenerated in Him. (I Corinthians 5:17) (St. John 3:5) After our “born again” experience, the Ministry of the Holy Spirit is to release Kingdom Power from Himself into our spirit through a divine process.

Finally, God’s Kingdom is an exhibition of His Will being done on earth. St. Matthew 6:10 declares, “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” From God’s Kingdom is released His Power into our spirit in a specific way. When that power operates within us, we are empowered to behave in ways that we naturally cannot. Also, when it operates, we experience specific results called His “Glory.” St. Matthew 6:13 declares, “… For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever, Amen.”
