Random Thought: Going to where we came from

By: Eddie W Habeck III

I loathe politics in every sense of the word. To our generation, the act of practicing politics alone has become synonymous with the corruption of power. This is most likely the ultimate reason why I, and many of us for that matter, choose to detach from the word in its entirety. We feel there is nothing it comprises that we can believe, so we choose not to encompass ourselves with any of it at all.

Yet we still have the freedom to vote for what we think is right for our country, and elect someone that we feel can better our nation and/or improve upon what was done by that of previous leadership. This is a liberty that we all must partake in if we choose to criticize the direction our country is plunging.

And plunging it is. We wake everyday to a media influx of confusion and ideals that challenges our core beliefs even more then when we laid ourselves to rest the night before. And like any great society should in a time like this, we should closer analyze what we have lost in order to arrive in our current predicament.

Civility? Of course.
Honor? Absolutely.
Morals? What little left we have…

It is only right then that we evaluate what the foundation of all this is, which grew to give us the power to destroy that very groundwork. How have we come so far educationally only to use our knowledge to straighten our faults? What is the fundamental measure to which we can ascribe our rise to supremacy that has become so disoriented we cannot even name it? Without pause my immediate and direct answer to all this is the loss of God.

For students of the Christian faith this is nothing new. It is also nothing new to attribute our societies dilemmas to the lack of God. There is no question however, we as a country, all of us as citizens of this great nation, have something very powerful tying us all collectively. Our freedoms were born from fathers and leaders that were guided by the hand of God. The footing for every unique nation is attributed by some formed measure to justify its existence. The United States was built upon a people using this land freely to express their commitment to the Lord.

Our founding fathers, religious all as they were, undoubtedly used God as a measuring point in which to base their actions and ideals. This devotion and underlying set of ideals, which came from God and his word, is what our nation is built upon. There is no argument then, that the United States was a result of Gods work.

As we have progressed and educated ourselves we are bombarding each other with ideas that dispute the ideas of God. Our infatuation with the sciences to some has left God as a frivolous term, which can be wittily tossed around. Through our development we have washed away God because our society allows us to be Gods ourselves. There is very little that we cannot control, or feel that we should control. In addition to this, is there a need for God when we conclude that we have the answers in what we refer to as that which is Politically Correct?

How can this be the case? We are so unsure of our current state of politics, yet we would use this as the underlying measure to which we can judge right from wrong? By the demeanor in our society and its restlessness I am content in saying that it's not the answer our people yearn.

What does this translate into? It means that when I vote, which I do at every opportunity, I will dive past the candidates focus issues. I will intensely look beyond the key points he is trying to substantiate. I will indulge farther then just his professional political career time line. There is a greater logic I seek for the justifications of their views, one I trust. For what I feel is in our best interest to be great, I will do to the best that my research allows me to find, if the candidate, is a follower of God.
