Pruning your Mind to Promote Weight Release

By: Healthy By Design

“Don't go to bed angry. Don't give the Devil that kind of foothold in your life.” ~ Ephesians 4:26

How often have you eaten something and regretted it the next day? Or wasted an entire day doing something unproductive and then regretted the wasted time? Well, here’s a way to correct your mistakes.

In 1954, the great teacher and lecturer Neville Goddard delivered a speech about a transformational technique called the Pruning Shears of Revision. In it he stated that if this technique were to be followed daily, it would “not only the achieve all of your objectives, but also awaken in you the spirit of Jesus, which is continual forgiveness of sin.”

Here’s a summary of his speech on how the technique works:

“At the end of my day, I review the day; I don't judge it, I simply review it. I look over the entire day, all the episodes, all the events, all the conversations, all the meetings, and then as I see it clearly in my mind's eye, I rewrite it. I rewrite it and make it conform to the ideal day I wish I had experienced. I take scene after scene and rewrite it, revise it, and having revised my day, then in my imagination I relive that day, the revised day, and I do it over and over in my imagination until this seeming imagined state begins to take on to me the tones of reality. It seems that it's real, that I actually did experience it and I have found from experience that these revised days, if really lived, will change my tomorrows.”

So this evening before you retire, reflect upon your day. Did you eat foods that you wish you did not, did you fail to exercise the way you planned? Were you conscious of being jealous of the beautiful woman who entered the room? Use the pruning shears of revision and recreate those scenes. Be as specific as you can. Picture yourself eating well. What do the foods taste like, what do they smell like? What color is the plate? Count how many times you chew. Allow yourself to relive your previous experience, and imagine this new experience as if it were real.

If you continue to prune your habits, you will eventually be able to take control of the weeds in your garden instead of having them control your mind.
