Minority Christians Who Did Not Vote For Obama

Just as it shouldn't be assumed that Caucasians who didn't vote for Obama rejected the idea of a Black president; likewise, it should not be assumed that all minorities voted for him. Each side had its reasons for why it did or didn't support Mr. Obama. Christian minorities figure on both of those sides.

Most people intelligent enough to assess someone based on character and not ethnicity, would agree that; unfortunately, not much intelligence was employed by some Americans during this election. Very large numbers of minorities openly made known their reasons for supporting the president-elect, Barack Obama--he's Black. Sadly, many who assessed him as good leadership material for the United States, were motivated almost purely by his ethnicity and not his character. The greater shame in this lies in the fact that among such voters were professing evangelical Christians. A Christian is someone who follows the doctrine of Christ as prescribed in the Holy Bible. But, whose interpretation of that doctrine is correct? Asking such a question to dodge truth is a tactic that is so over-used that it's becoming as old as it is to start a conversation with a stranger by commenting on the weather.

There are minority Christians who did not support or vote for Mr. Obama based on an assessment of his character or any regard for shared ethnicity. Such believers in the biblical doctrine of Christ are more concerned with the impact his administration could have on two nations, natural Israel (natural born Jews) and spiritual Israel. The Bible, from Genesis to Revelation makes it crystal clear that natural Israel is the apple of God's eye. This is not any slight to the other nations because to be a Jew, according to the Bible, is simply to love and obey God. Therefore, everyone is called to be a spiritual Jew and many Gentiles, also known as "strangers" became Jews by accepting the God of Israel as their God. The twelfth chapter of the Old Testament book of Exodus, beginning at verse 37, speaks of when the children of Israel left Egypt.

The reader is informed that a "mixed multitude" went out of the land with God's people. They had come to see, through the powerful signs and wonders that God performed against pharaoh, that the God of Israel is the true and living God. Consequently, they abandoned their land, pagan customs and beliefs and joined themselves to God's people. Israel was instructed by God to view them as though they had been naturally born into the chosen people. The scripture of Esther 8:17 also speaks of many people becoming Jews. The former Gentiles and "strangers" to God were wise enough to see that neither native lands, nor customs, nor lineage, nor family, nor anything of this present world is to shift God into second place.

The scripture of Romans 2:28-29 teaches that, "...he is not a Jew which is one outwardly (natural born Jews).... But he is a Jew which is one inwardly...in the spirit...."

Nevertheless, obviously such a vital truth was dismissed in this year's election. It's beyond the scope of this article to deal with the disturbing and easily verifiable reports on what appears to be Obama's anti-scriptural views on what it means to serve God--the God that used to be honored in this country. Instead, for many minority "Christians", God's word took a back seat to personal preferences, biases, prejudices and politics. The welfare of spiritual Israel, God's servants from all nations, lost importance to the glory desired for America's minorities. How will America ever become color-blind when she continues to be blinded by color?
