LIKE JESUS

LIKE JESUS

HE was from heaven
So majestic and royal
Yet stooped HE so humbly
To this our planet in toil
HE searched like a shepherd
For His lost sheep
And brightened our future
That was so dark and bleak.

Though tortured and wounded
Yet HE stood up firm
Never for the truth
Did HE ever stay mum
HE opened His mouth
And spoke heaven’s mind
And by His precious blood
To earth heaven HE did bind.

Justice and mercy
Truth and love
Embraced one another
In a heavenly kiss
It was in Jesus on that old rugged cross
That we sinners found
Our heavenly cause.

Oh how I wish that I would be
Like Jesus
The God-man from Galilee
Who died for truth
Hung cursed upon a three
Yet love sprang forth
From that well
That was He!
