Great faith part 4

By: TOROSBC

The account states that there was a son in the midst of the camp whose parentage stemmed from both Israelites and Egyptian, out of this duplicity resulted contention and blasphemy. The bible is clear a double minded man is unstable in all his ways, such is the life of the Christian who although has committed themselves to Christ on the outside, they still bear the inner dictates of the world. Yes religion, and yes the world. For religion is the robe the clothing over worldly self just as Adam and Eve clothed themselves in fig leaves to resolve their sin through their own methods.

Paul states; that not all who were circumcised were of the lineage of Abraham, because that which God had spoken was not mixed with faith within them. The true nature of our faith is the inner faith stirred by the ongoing words of the Father.

This is the danger of this type of fellow in the midst of the camp, the one who wears Christ on the outside but has not possessed an inward reality through faith. To him attending the required services are the sum total of his allegiance. Following formulas and steps, rather then working out the faith with fear and trembling. Those bound to religion on the outside are inwardly bound to worldliness on the inside. Note that his mother (Israelite) was first mentioned, and then his Father (Egyptian) last.

The religion seen, but the source unseen.

On the outside we may carry at a glance the Christen life, in our attending required rituals, but on the inside we are ravenous with worldliness. The appetites of men only found when one has drawn close and inspected their daily living, their daily thoughts.

But alas sooner or later, as the church journey's the double life is soon revealed. The blasphemy comes to the foreground, what was hidden simmers to the surface. Only in the context of journey through relationship that true covenant is identified. The true nature of the man revealed.

Jesus states "A man is defiled by what he speaks" Not so much the words but the spirit of the words. Are they kindled with faith, or are they opposing the direct will of the Father. Blasphemy is in this context. For the daily life of the Christian, contentions are ongoing. Inner thoughts have to be subdued and bought into the captivity of Christ. The inner contention for only one voice, the shout of the king in the midst. Just as the Israelites bought the man to Moses. Laid a hold of him and bought him captive to their mediator. We must lay a hold of religion and worldliness; hold them captive to be bound through the revelation of Christ.

Where you may ask does the strength to do this come from? To lay a hold of religion and worldliness, to be strong enough to put to death carnality without being tainted. The secret is to be found in the preceding command. We must lay a hold of the substance of Christ. We must abide in the revelations of Christ, be lead to his substance, where in his strength we might bind the rebellious spirit and cast it outside the house of the faithful. Just as that man was taken outside to be stoned, we too must unit in one spirit with Christ and his church to actively resist the temptations of the liar, the thief, and the rebellious.

Our devotion to Christ unifies us with our brothers and through the power of the spirit binds that which rebels God's commands. The entire assembly was to lay hands upon the man, the entire assembly was to stone him. Such is the nature of blasphemy; it requires the active involvement of complete whole dedication to expel the force which thrives in duplicity and contention.

The final word on the account is a stark reminder to us of the awesome responsibility of having the Holy one in our midst. The Lord states: that whether alien or native born, any who rise up in blasphemy shall be killed. This is an awesome warning to us of our place before him. He has with great grace afforded us access and resource to be in his midst, but this comes at a high price that our Lord alone could bear. He will not have his death lightly treated by those who have been afforded such abundant grace. We must lean wholly upon his redemptive work so that we ourselves might not come under the judgment of profaning his dwelling place.

Thus the Lord states, its not by might nor by power but by my spirit. Only his substance only his grace affords us the ability to deal with the tangible evil, we experience everyday. Let us then remember that we are more then conquerors through Christ Jesus.
