Doctrine of “The Blessing”

By: Reverend Robert E. Daley, Jr.

“And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

And God BLESSED them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.” Genesis 1:21-22

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all creepeth upon the earth.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

And God BLESSED them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” Genesis 1:26-28

“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
And God Blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.” Genesis 2:3

Strong’s concordance references the word ‘Blessed,’ in the Hebrew to #1288
Barak (baw-rak) a prim. Root; to kneel; by impl. To bless God (as an act of adoration), and (visa-versa) man (as a benefit); also (by euphem.) to curse (God or the king, as treason); x abundantly, x altogether. X at all, blaspheme, bless, congratulate, curse, x greatly, x indeed, kneel (down), praise, salute, x still, thank.

The first declaration of God’s BLESSING in the whole of Scripture is in connection with great whales, creatures that moveth in the waters, and every winged fowl.

The second declaration of God’s BLESSING in the Scriptures in His dealings with man, and the setting of man over all the works of His hands.

The third declaration of God’s BLESSING in the Scriptures is concerning the Sabbath of Commandment as it will become, the seventh day.

The same Hebrew word is used in all three of these references, and there are only three out of one hundred seventy-seven references in the Old Testament alone.

Cutting to the chase…

When God created Adam it was with an ‘owner – manager’ perspective. Adam was to take the authority that God gave him and subdue all the earth outside of the Garden of Eden; and go on to do the same with this solar system, this galaxy, and the remainder of the universe.

The BLESSING from God was God’s endorsement with support of His original position design with man.

Adam disobeyed God’s simple instructions, joined the household of God’s archenemy, and left God without representation in the earth.

As time proceeded God worked with certain individuals who were willing. However, He is without official, lawful, operational status, upon the earth, for approximately two-thousand years.

God approaches an idolater named Abram and offers him a covenant opportunity.

With the covenant comes God’s BLESSING of endorsement and support again, on what He would have men walking in harmony with Him to do. Along with the covenant God gave ‘rules’ by which His people were to live, and a promise that HE would send a man who would make all things right again.

With the refusal of God’s people to accept the man (Jesus of Nazareth) who would make all things right, God has fulfilled His promise and responsibility to His people. At this point in time, He is obligated no more.

When Jesus of Nazareth is raised up from the dead, he is not Jewish anymore. That portion of his assignment is finished and over forever.

He is a brand new creation of humanity that never existed before. He is a higher exalted prototype creation than the original prototype creation of man. In his humanity, he is the ultimate of all things created.

God’s BLESSING upon him is the supreme, fore-knowledge endorsement and support of his commission. Only those who choose to become part of the ‘Body of Christ’ project will enjoy this BLESSING along with Jesus.

Men and women ‘in Christ’ will ultimately subdue and rule this earth, and then this solar system, and then the galaxy, and then all the remainder of this universe.

Our focus on the declared BLESSING found within the pages of Scriptures should be upon Christ Jesus, the Lord of Glory, and the declarations of God relating to him.

Praise be to the God of all grace!
